Dining with DRG and the Majestic Theatre

drg_majestic

So much of what we love about being right in the heart of Downtown Dallas is all the history we’re surrounded by and get to be a part of. Our Main Street restaurants are all within a few blocks from the Majestic Theatre, which has been bringing music, film, and performing arts events to Downtown Dallas since 1921!

If you are attending a show at the Majestic Theatre, we would love for you to join us for dinner before or after. Bring your same-day tickets to any of our restaurants and show them to the server or manager for a complimentary appetizer or dessert with your meal!

Check out the events schedule to see what’s coming to the Majestic Theatre soon and start planning an amazing night out in Downtown Dallas!

Associate of the Week –Maria

DSC_0172

Maria has only been a server with us for two months, but it took no time at all for her to love her job at Dallas Fish Market. She has quickly become a favorite of many of our guests, who will be excited to hear that she is our Associate of the Week!

One thing Maria appreciates about Dallas Fish Market is the closeness that comes with working with a smaller group of people.

“I love the small environment and intimate setting, and really just getting to work together,” she said.

Maria is also a fan of Dallas Fish Market’s recently updated menu and enjoys explaining the dishes to guests and making recommendations. She said she loves listing the ingredients and how each menu item is made. While she was clear about liking everything on the menu, she did say there is one dish that is her absolute favorite.

“I can’t get over the Fennel-Coriander Crusted Ahi Tuna,” she said, “because it’s the best tuna I’ve ever had. I recommend it to the table every single time.”

She also remembers one specific time she really felt her attention to great service paid off. Dallas Fish Market often sees travelers who are passing through the downtown area, and one of Maria’s guests was only visiting for the week. After spending dinner at the restaurant with Maria as her server, she decided to come back every night she was in Dallas.

Maria explained, “It felt like such a compliment!”

Whether you come to Dallas Fish Market for the Fennel-Coriander Crusted Ahi Tuna or just the great service, be sure to congratulate Maria as our Associate of the Week next time you come by!

Associate of the Week –Stephanie

Dallas Fish Market is proud to have their server Stephanie as DRG Concepts’ Associate of the Week!

Stephanie has been working at Dallas Fish Market for three years. In that time she has really settled into the family atmosphere among everyone at the restaurant. She described it as a smaller, more intimate space that she enjoys working in.

“I sort of take on the mom role in the restaurant,” she said. “I love taking care of people, both the guests and the people I work with.” Stephanie loves to see guests return to the restaurant because it means they enjoyed their experience. She has gained quite a few regulars over the years and is always glad to make sure their meal is perfect each time.

When it comes to recommendations, Stephanie’s favorite dish is the Swordfish.

“It’s delicious and it’s been on the menu since I first started,” she said. “I made Chef promise he wouldn’t ever take it off the menu.”

Manager and Wine Director George Calderon agreed that Stephanie is great at her job and that her love for it shines through.

“She’s a very experienced server with great people skills,” he said.

If you’ve ever spent time at Dallas Fish Market, Stephanie will already be a familiar face. If not, she will always be happy to meet you and make a recommendation, whether you’re as big a fan of swordfish as she is or not.

DRG Concepts Rings in the New Year

This New Year’s Eve, two of our restaurants are celebrating with special dinner menus and wine pairings!  Join us at Dallas Fish Market or Dallas Chop House for a meal you’ll remember for the entire year to come. Here are a few of the dishes you can choose from to end your 2014! If you want to see more options, the menus are available online at the Dallas Fish Market and Dallas Chop House websites.

Dallas Fish Market

Start off your meal at Dallas Fish Market with a first course of Charred Calamari and espalette pepper jam with sauce basquise. It has a bright color that is perfect for getting the new year off to a lively start.

Some stories say that it’s unlucky to eat Lobster on New Year’s Day because of their tendency to walk backwards. Be sure to get your fill before the new year arrives with this Butter Poached Lobster and sunchoke puree. According to legend, if you finish your meal before midnight, you’re in the clear. If you’d rather have a dish made of something that swims forward and never looks back, think about checking out the Pan Seared Scottish Salmon or Wild Striped Bass.

Conversely, the olive tree is a long-standing symbol of luck and peace. Increase your good luck quotient while satisfying your sweet tooth with this Olive Oil Cake topped with strawberry compote and surrounded by citrus mascarpone.

Dallas Chop House

Over at Dallas Chop House, a starter of Hawaiian Big Eye Tuna Tartare has avocado, wonton crumbs, American caviar, and Chile Ponzu. What better way to kick off a fresh start than with some fresh tuna tartare?

Both menus come with the option of a wine pairing, but these Wagyu Shortribs already come braised in red wine. If a great new year always starts with a toast, imagine the success a toast over red wine short ribs will bring. We also have a Wild Mushroom Risotto, Foie Gras Stuffed Quail, Filet Mignon, and more to choose from!

2015 is looking sweet with a Brioche Bread Pudding dessert to end the night. Egg nog ice cream joins hazelnuts, golden raisins, and Frangelico caramel to create this classic flavor that will end the year on a high note.

Both menus are filled with unique options and can be ordered as a full meal or a la carte. Be sure to make your reservation on OpenTable for Dallas Fish Market or Dallas Chop House. Here at DRG Concepts we can’t wait to ring in another year of family, friends, and great food.

Happy World Vegetarian Day!

Common Perception of Vegetarians
Common Perception of Vegetarians

We think that restaurants in Dallas sometimes get a bad reputation when it comes to vegetarians. This is the land of BBQ and steak right? So we wanted to feature some of our options for our herbivore friends.

Wild Salsa

ws mex sal-page-001

In case you want to go the salad route Wild Salsa offers a couple of options without having to awkwardly tell your waiter to “hold the meat.”

We have a tropical salad with grilled pineapple, spinach, arugula, and a coconut habanero vinaigrette. We also have the classic Ensalata Mexicana served on a corn tostado with shredded cabbage, roasted corn, black beans, pico, and avocado dressing.

We can’t get enough of our mushroom tacos, and when they’re served with black beans and cilantro rice, they’re pretty much perfection.

Our verde enchiladas have spinach queso fresco, black beans, salsa verde, and crisp vegetable chips. These are what vegetarian’s dreams are made of.

Obviously we have a ton of salsa and guacamole. For those of you who don’t know, avocados are like kryptonite for vegetarians. Who needs meat when you can have avocados?

Dallas Fish Market

DFM-WEB-roasted beet salad

We have two salads. One amazing beet salad (beets are the best), and the Market Salad that combines caramelized onions, spiced walnuts, and gorgonzola for an amazing flavor.

Sushi is not the first thing you think of when you say “vegetarian” but most vegetarians love a good veggie roll. Our vegetable roll has carrot, cucumber, avocado, and roasted pineapple and more importantly it makes us feel like we fit in.

Dallas Chop House

Oh, did you think our meatiest restaurant had nothing for vegetarians? So maybe if you’re a vegetarian you wouldn’t be drawn to a name like Dallas Chop House, but we’ve all been there, dragged by our friends to an awkward birthday lunch where you’re stuck nibbling on bread.

Our Rosemary Focaccia Veggie Sandwich has marinated Portobello mushrooms (MUSHROOMS!), roasted red peppers, goat cheese, hummus, caramelized onions and arugula.

Don’t forget our Orecchiette Pasta with wild mushrooms (Yes, more mushrooms!) arugula and parmesan. I mean honestly, who doesn’t like pasta? That’s right no one.

Chop House Burger

chb green b-page-001

Our Green burger is made with falafel and topped with tzatziki and hummus, which is basically a perfect trifecta of vegetarian favorites. Don’t forget all of our fries are meat free…just don’t add chili.
